Saor Éire held its founding conference
The founding conference of Saor Éire began on Saturday the 26th September 1931. The “organisation of workers and working farmers” was established by the left-leaning and communist wing of the IRA.
The organisation was strongly opposed by conservative and religious groups, banned by the Free State government, and ultimately had a short-lived existence.
