Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP) was formed
The Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP) was formed at a meeting in Dublin on the 8th of December 1974, by former members of Official Sinn Féin.
Announcing the new party, the first issue of The Starry Plough (in April 1975) states:
It was unanimously agreed that the object of the Party would be to “End Imperialist Rule in Ireland and Establish a 32 County Democratic Socialist Republic, with the Working Class in control of the Means of Production, Distribution and Exchange.”
