As noted here :

Who Are The Campaign for Public Housing?

The Campaign for Public Housing is an alliance of political parties, independent elected representatives, trade unions and local housing action groups. We believe the housing crisis is the direct creation of successive right-wing governments, who poured money into subsidising private developers and landlords, while at the same time defunding social housing – and that the solutions our government are proposing are simply more of the same.

Our core demand is for a new system of Universally Accessible Public Housing. Under such a system the state would use its full legal and financial powers to dramatically increase the pool of public housing through a major ‘build and buy’ programme, and bringing an end to the sell-off of public housing to tenants. By providing public housing to anyone who wants it, we would also put an end to social segregation.

The Campaign has been supported by the Communist Party of Ireland and the Workers’ Party amongst other groups. It was established in 2017.

The document added to the Archive is of particular significance being issued by the Campaign at the time of the 2020 General Election which outlines the pledges made, and broken, by various public representatives of parties such as Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, the Social Democrats, Green Party and Labour Party with respect to O’Devaney Gardens in Dublin.
