Commentary From The Cedar Lounge Revolution
16th December 2024
This edition of the Workers’ Party internal newsletter covers a wide range of areas from Section 31 of the Health Act, Youth, Water Tax, Local Elections & Councillors and International Affairs. As a snapshot of the concerns of the Workers’ Party during this period it is particularly useful. Of specific interest is the reference to Craigavon Council where the two WP councillors elected there had:
…recently won their case against the decision of the Councillors to debar them from the Council. As with many other matters pertaining to N.I., statements by the party are either not carried or are distorted in the media, particularly in the Republic of Ireland. The motions and statements are carried hereunder. As you can see, the issue is not to do with ‘An unwillingness to sign a declaration against violence’ as portrayed in the media but to do with Democracy. We will stand steadfastly against ‘McCarthyism’ regardless of its origin.
