About
The League for the Fifth International (L5I) is an international group of Trotskyist parties, formed in 1989 as the League for a Revolutionary Communist International (LRCI). It emerged from the Movement for a Revolutionary Communist International, which was extant in the 1980s. The UK Workers’ Power group and Irish Workers’ Group (IWG) were involved from its foundation.
In 2006 a split occurred which resulted in the formation of Permanent Revolution in the UK. Remaining active members of IWG left L5I at this time and supported Permanent Revolution.
