About
The Republican Labour Party was founded in 1964 with two Stormont MPs, Harry Diamond and Gerry Fitt - who had been members of the Socialist Republican Party and Irish Labour Party. However Fitt went on to found the Social Democratic and Labour Party in 1970 after which the party went into decline. It was disbanded in 1973 due to losing both the local and Northern Ireland Assembly Elections.
