About
The Independent Socialist Party was established as a split from the IRSP. It sought a greater emphasis on socialist politics. Initially called the Irish Committee for a Socialist Programme, it became the Independent Socialist Party in 1977. It’s membership included Bernadette McAlliskey. After unsuccessful fusion talks with the Socialist Workers’ Movement in 1978 it disbanded.
