About
The Socialist Party of Northern Ireland was formed in 1932 by former members of the UK Independent Labour Party (ILP).
When the ILP disaffiliated from the British Labour Party, Northern Ireland branches were asked to disaffiliate from the Northern Ireland Labour Party (NILP), but were unwilling. Instead, they split from the ILP and formed the Socialist Party of Northern Ireland, which remained affiliated with the NILP. The party was extant until 1940.
